Leona has a BFA from the U of Alberta and a Dipl. of Arts and Sciences. “I have loved to capture the feeling of the mountains since I moved to the Rockies in 1980. I have moved between abstraction and figurative styles often combining both. Pattern and colour form the basis of my work. My work has progressed by simplifying shapes to get to the essence of my surroundings. In this painting, “Turning”, I have used circles and triangles to capture engagement with the mountains through movement.”
