Jolene is a self-taught Inuvialuk artist who comes from a large family of distinguished talent. She was born in BC, raised in Valemount, and has roots in the Northwest Territories and Alaska. Her inspiration comes from her cultural background, from the Land, and the intricate details of life forms. "I was inspired to pay respect to Tmicw (T-mew-h) meaning Land in the language of the Secwepemc People who have lived here since time immemorial. I like to imagine the unseen forces that surround us in the Land, water, animal, fish, and medicinal plant nations."
